As a child, I spent hours drawing pictures of my heroes: the racers and aviators of bygone eras and their machines.
In 1981, I produced a mixed media piece called “Ace”.  It was meant to be a humorous homage to aviators.  I pulled a small edition of lithographs and moved on to other things.
A couple of years ago, I decided to re-visit the subject and style of “Ace” and produce images of a more specific nature.  All of the images and elements used in the picture are meant to provide an accurate narrative of the individual: his accomplishments, machines and era.
The images are rendered in mixed media; collage, watercolor, gouache, pencil and digital transfers. The finished image is then scanned and reproduced as a limited edition giclee print on archival quality paper.  Most are available in color, black and white or duotone.
As time goes by, these individuals recede into history.  I hope to produce images that preserve their memory for future generations in a style that is engaging and informative.
